I have a very power hungry Alienware M15xprocessor: quad core i7 720 QM 1.6ghz (2.8ghz turbo mode) video card: 1 GB nvidia GTX 260m display: 15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED memory: 3gb ddr @ 1066Mhz hard drive: 500gb sata II 7200rpm all of this, packed into a 15 inch laptop... not good. Although alienware has improved this model's bios and venting system over its predecessor, still it packs on a lot of heat. It has on times shut down itself due to extreme heat. So i look for a notebook to suffice my cooling needs, I have been choosing amongst 3, NC2000, NC1500 and antec200. I decided to go with this one considering the budget I have for the notebook cooler. One thing I would like to say is before you buy a notebook cooler, make sure you measure the dimensions... I went through two cheap plastic fans, the first one died early and the second one didn't keep it cool enough. I've had this baby for 4 months now with my computer on it non-stop and it hasn't overheated once. Although the fans aren't as strong as I expected them to be, they are definitely quiet. It looks nice, fits my computer well, and I like the angle it sets my keyboard at. All-in-all the Zalman was worth it. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: Zalman Notebook Cooler Black (Personal Computers) I have a 5-year old Macbook Pro 17" that would display RANDOM BLACK LINES on the screen after about 20 minutes of use. I assumed it was old age, video card was going bad, etc. and even considered buying a new laptop. I also thought that maybe one of the internal fans was dead because it was always hotter than usual. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try one of these laptop coolers, so after reading all the reviews I bought the NC1500.To make a long story short, I've been running my Macbook Pro for about 11 hours straight now (since I bought the cooler this morning) and those black lines are GONE! Just to be 100% sure, I worked for a few hours in Photoshop, played some World of Warcraft, and other CPU/GPU intensive task. Same results - no more black lines and it's running as good as ever. HELPFUL TIP: I don't like plugging things into my USB ports if I don't have to, so I tried plugging this into my cellphone power adapter and it worked just fine. My old Motorola... Read more |
